Copper is an amazing material. It was the first metal to be processed and utilised by man. It has wonderful workability using ‘heat and beat’. Heat reinvigorates the material making it ductile – facilitating shaping, stretching, bending and forming until the material becomes rigid and needs to be heated again. The colour and sheen of copper is truly beautiful – the oxides and colours it produces are equally wonderful. Work is often created from the humble plumber’s tube or from larger and smaller tubes, sheet and foil forms are also used.
